Escallonia - Evergreen Shrub

Family: Escalloniaceae Genus: Escallonia

Escallonia flowers from April to August / June to October / October to January depending on location and variety. It has masses of rosy crimson flowers, with a honey fragrance, and grows to be 5-10 ft.

Grows well in any moist but well drained soils in half shade to full sun.

Cut back by a third to a half of newest growth after flowering.

Do not eat any part of the plant.

We bought our Escallonia - var. Red Elf as a 30cm high pot plant from Morrisons Supermarket in 2011 for just £2.00!
