There is nothing more delicious than the sound of children's laughter coming from a sunny Children's Garden. Whether they're bouncing on a trampoline, playing imaginary games in a tree house or looking for newts in a pond, children all benefit from a Children's Garden outdoor space that is geared to their needs.
The perfect child's garden should have somewhere to play, somewhere to hide and somewhere to explore and learn about the world. Naturally, it must also be safe. For advice, see Creating a Children's Garden.
Simple Project - Add a bit of family competition by growing pumpkins or marrows! See who can grow the biggest vegetable (actually it's a fruit)! Not only will the 'competition' give a reason to care for the plant it will also have a tasty end product. A quick easy and cheap thing to grow: Plant in April (indoors) or end of May (outdoors) - Harvest from June through to Halloween! Follow the basic planting instructions on the seed packet.
Children will love to grow something they like to eat!
We recommend that children start growing with a fruit they are sure to like - Strawberries!
Quick to plant and easy to grow and propagate strawberries can be planted directly into prepared soil or in suitable pots or novelty containers.
The fruit is easy to pick and can be eaten straight from the plant if no chemicals have been used.
